At their regular meeting held July 22nd, 2024, Mayor and Council approved the Town of Lanigan Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Action Plan. “We talk about diversity and inclusion on a regular basis and Council decided that it was time to start putting words into meaningful actions.” said Mayor Tony Mycock. Mayor Mycock went on to say, “This led Council to direct Administration to draft a policy for Council’s consideration, which was reviewed and approved by Council last night.”
At the Town of Lanigan we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all individuals feel heard, valued, respected, and empowered to participate fully. This community inclusion plan outlines our commitment to diversity and outlines procedures to ensure that our programs, activities, and services are accessible to everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, age, ability, gender identity, sexual orientation, health care needs, socioeconomic status, or any other characteristics.
The Recreation Manager is currently focused on the development of various program opportunities for a range of ages with this policy and action plan playing a role in the development of those programs and activities. The policy and action plan will also play a significant role in everything that we do in the Town of Lanigan. “On behalf of Council, I can say that we are excited about the future of Lanigan, and we look forward to continued growth in everything that we do.” said Mayor Mycock.
