I was away last week on holidays and unfortunately, I missed the pool party and presentation of the water wheelchair graciously donated by Long Lake Insurance. The afternoon also highlighted the new waterslide, supported the Lanigan Cooperative Daycare who did the BBQ and promoted the community as a whole.
I do want to say a big thank you to Long Lake Insurance for the donation. I have heard that it has already been used.
The waterpark features a zero-entry pool, among other things, which supports accessibility. The water wheelchair supports accessibility for anyone needing mobility assistance. Our Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Action Plan adopted in 2024 states: At the Town of Lanigan we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all individuals feel heard, valued, respected, and empowered to participate fully. This community inclusion plan outlines our commitment to diversity and outlines procedures to ensure that our programs, activities, and services are accessible to everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, age, ability, gender identity, sexual orientation, health care needs, socioeconomic status, or any other characteristics.
Yvonne and I were lucky last week to spend a few days camping with our 2 granddaughters Falyn and Kinslee. We took them to the pool in Lanigan one of those days and the girls had a blast. Kinslee said to Yvonne “Granny this pool is epic”! It was also my first time in the pool, seeing all the kids there and the fun they were having really confirmed for me what a wonderful facility we have in Lanigan.
The involvement at this event by the Lanigan Cooperative Daycare further shows the positive things happening in Lanigan. There is a lot going on – a new pre-K to Gr. 12 school, a new daycare facility under construction, new homes being built and new commercial development under construction. This really shows that we are Thriving in Lanigan.
The next few weeks we are going to be working on the paving projects we allocated in this year's budget. There will be some disruptions in traffic flow while this is going on and we appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience. Stay tuned to the town website Lanigan.ca and Facebook page for any updates.
“Stay tuned for more exciting updates as they happen”!
