Following are highlights from the regular meeting of Town Council held on September 8, 2025:
- Council reviewed the provisions of Bylaw 3/2019 concerning property owners’ responsibility for the costs of construction, maintenance, repair and replacement of the portion of the sewer service connection line from the main lines of the sewage system to the boundary of the street, road, or easement. This resulted in Council, by resolution, upholding the provisions of Bylaw 3/2019. This bylaw is available to view on the Town of Lanigan website www.lanigan.ca.
- Council directed Administration to draft a policy to ratify the current practice of the Town of Lanigan undertaking the surface work of street, curb and/or sidewalk repair following maintenance and/or replacement of a sewer service line. In other words, the property owner is responsible for the cost of all underground work and the Town of Lanigan will undertake the surface work.
- Council authorized the naming of an unnamed street located west of the new school, between Commercial Drive and Agnew Avenue to Gordon Greve Road.
- Council approved the request from the Lanigan Daycare Cooperative to waive the community hall rental fee for a community Christmas party on December 6, 2025.
- Council approved the request from the Lanigan Legion to authorize painting of a crosswalk in recognition of Veterans and directed Administration to arrange for the purchase of banner brackets, arrange installation and assist the Legion with installation of banners to recognize Veterans.
- Council approved the Builder’s Agreement with Alpha Developments Ltd to construct a new duplex for health care professionals at 14 Clement Road.
