Council Meeting Highlights (September 22, 2025)

Following are highlights from the regular meeting of Town Council held on September 22, 2025: 

  • RCMP S/Sgt Rod Rudnisky attended the meeting to provide Council with an update on statistics, general policing activities and priorities. S/Sgt Rudnisky considers Lanigan to be a safe community!
  • CAO Ron McCullough provided Council with updates on the Day Care Project financing, growth management activities and the marketing strategies of Thrive in Lanigan (Economic Development).
  • Council authorized closure of the Town of Lanigan administration and operations on September 30th of each year to recognize and respect National Truth and Reconciliation.
  • Council has directed Administration to initiate action with the SK Ministry of Highways to install a crosswalk on Hwy 16 in the vicinity of Munster Avenue.
  • Administration will be obtaining quotes for street line painting on Main Street and Downing Drive for the proper delineation of angle parking layout where angle parking is required, and proper delineation of traffic lanes.
  • Council supported the development of a Community Grant program and application process that will be circulated to community groups for an opportunity to apply for funding support by October 31, 2025. The intent of this program is to encourage and support the development of community services programming in the community. 
  • Council has authorized implementation of the community rate for the SHA to conduct vaccination clinics in the Community Hall, and the Community Hall rental fee has been waived for the Lanigan Daycare Cooperative to host their Halloween Carnival fundraiser.
