Following are highlights from the regular meeting of Town Council held on November 25, 2024:
- Council conducted two public hearings as follows:
- To consider an amendment (Bylaw 12/2024) to the Town of Lanigan Official Community Plan to support a proposed subdivision of the parcel of land south of the Vets Home subdivision.
- To consider an amendment (Bylaw 13/2024) to the Town of Lanigan Zoning Bylaw to support a proposed subdivision in Triland Court.
- Bylaw 12/2024 and Bylaw 13/2024 (as mentioned above) both received second and third readings following the public hearings.
- The Lanigan and District Heritage Association request for funding support has been referred to the 2025 budget process.
- Change of signing authorities was approved with the change of Council members.
- Council approved a rotation of Deputy Mayor appointments for the next four years, meaning that each member of Council will have opportunity to be Deputy Mayor on a rotational basis. The schedule will be published on the Town website.
- Corporate credit cards for purchasing goods and services for the Town of Lanigan were approved for the Chief Administrative Officer, Director of Corporate Services and Director of Operations.
- Orientation of many items including financial, personnel, development agreements and land sales, legal and strategic planning took place through and during this meeting.
Snow clearing throughout town will be continuing and we appreciate the public’s patience with the amount of snowfall received recently. We appreciate the efforts of all Town Staff in managing the recent snowfall events, snow clearing and handling the public queries. A shout out to local contractors as well for being willing and able to assist where we needed addition resources and help. All are very appreciated!
