Following are highlights from the regular meeting of Town Council held on April 21, 2025:
➢ Public hearings were conducted for Bylaw No. 3/2025 and Bylaw No. 4/2025, being bylaws to amend the Town of Lanigan Official Community Plan (OCP) from Urban Reserve to Residential and amend the Town of Lanigan Zoning Bylaw from FUD - Future Urban Development District to RA - Residential Acreage District. The purpose of these amendments were to establish an area of approximately 47 acres for a future small acreage development or large lot development in the Town of Lanigan. Changing the land use (OCP) and zoning for this application will increase the range of opportunities for residential development in the Town of Lanigan. Both bylaws received second and third reading and both will become effective following approval of the OCP amendment by the Province of Saskatchewan. An application to subdivide will be the next step for the applicant, which is where all the servicing, drainage and infrastructure details will be considered.
➢ A public hearing was conducted for Bylaw 5/2025, being a bylaw to amend the Town of Lanigan Zoning Bylaw. The purpose of this amendment was to revise minimum side yard requirements on a corner lot for semi-detached dwellings, single detached dwellings and two-unit dwellings in the R1 – Low Density Residential District.
➢ Mayor and Council approved awards of $100.00 for the Lanigan Central High School Grade 9 Student Excellence and $100.00 for the Grade 12 Second Place Student Excellence, and Councillor Bay will be the presenter of the awards.
